What data Historical Anecdote does and does not collect, in plain language.

This site is intentionally simple, and so is this page. Here is exactly what the current version does:

What we collect

Nothing about you as an individual. The first version of this site:

  • has no user accounts and no sign-up;
  • has no forms, no comments, and no feedback widgets;
  • runs no analytics or tracking scripts on these pages;
  • does not use advertising or third-party trackers.

What any website's hosting sees

Like every website, the service that serves these pages keeps short-lived server logs (such as your IP address, the URL requested, and the time) for security and troubleshooting. We do not use these logs to profile anyone, and we cannot identify individual readers from them.

What we store on your device

The site remembers a light/dark theme preference. That is all.

If this changes

If we ever add analytics, a contact form, audio, downloads, or accounts, we will update this page before the feature goes live, and say plainly what is collected and why. We will not quietly add tracking to pages that promised not to have it.

Contact

This version has no contact channel yet. Before launching any feature that accepts your input, we will add one and note it here.
